Trump Spotlights Conservatives at Social Media Summit

Updated: Sep 5, 2023

President Trump hosted a group of conservative Social Media influencers at the White House for a ‘Social Media Summit’ and the mainstream media lost their collective minds. And to make them cry even more, after the event was over inside the White House, Trump replaced the regular ‘front-row’ seating arrangement in the Rose Garden, normally reserved for the ‘press’, with the attendees from the Summit. You could almost feel the sea levels rising from their liberal tears. From the cackling hens on The View to the pearl clutching of the MSM and Never Trumpers, the deliciousness of their rage was to be savored.

Along with all of the other reasons liberals hate Trump is the fact that he’s giving conservative influencers, aka ‘The Deplorables’, any attention at all, much less top billing. It started when Sean Spicer shook things up by allowing ‘non-traditional’ media ‘conservatives’ to call in and ask questions on Skype, such as talk show Lars Larson and Jason Stevens of The Federalist Papers. Naturally Media Matters, hissing mean girls that they are, called them ‘skypophants’. They just couldn’t bear the thought of these people who they’ve been working to cow into to submission for so long, having a seat at the table. After years of being relegated to the liberal drivel on the Big Three media stations, a majority of the cable channels and NPR, Americans finally had an option in Fox News, and they’ve been the most successful news station, as have online ‘new media’ platforms like Breitbart and Gateway Pundit. The mainstream media has been seething ever since.

And so it was with the Social Media Summit. President Trump gathered together the most influential conservative voices on the Internet to discuss the suppression of conservatives on various platforms, such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. Big Tech has been silencing and censoring conservatives for a while now, and especially since President Trump was elected, which is bad enough, but now it’s an obvious strategy and mission heading into the 2020 election, to directly influence the flow of information and thus ‘meddle in the democracy’. I thought Democrats were opposed to this?

It was assumed to be a goal, as we’d seen from the original videos of Google employees crying after the election, but was confirmed by the undercover Project Veritas videos of Google Jen Gennai, who works in Google’s Global Affairs division, where she exposes their plans to subvert searches: ‘We all got screwed over in 2016, again it wasn’t just us, it was, the people got screwed over, the news media got screwed over, like, everybody got screwed over so we’re rapidly been like, happened there and how do we prevent it from happening again. We’re also training our algorithms, like, if 2016 happened again, would we have, would the outcome be different?’ This is a high-ranking official of the world’s leading search engine basically admitting that they’re going to try to screw over Donald Trump and his voters. Seems Gennai, who is Irish, may be the ‘Russians’ the Democrats have been shrieking about. James O’Keefe is doing yoeman’s work with his investigations, now it’s just a matter of whether anything will actually happen to all of these perpetrators in Big Tech.

In addition to the fact that our government is too big and unruly, it’s extremely unnerving to think that these Big Tech companies, with their trillion-dollar market caps, are almost bigger than the government and beyond its reach. The Democrats don’t care because Big Tech companies and their employees favor them, vote for them and donate to them. Lawmakers may kvetch about privacy violations, but if that’s the price they pay for Big Tech sticking it to conservatives by censoring them or banning them, it’s a price they’re willing to pay. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) actually said regarding Facebook, Apple and YouTube, which de-platformed Alex Jones, ‘They are private companies that shouldn’t knowingly spread lies and hate. They took a good first step today by removing Infowars.’ Meanwhile, Farrakhan is all over YouTube and until about 2016, so were Al-Awlaki videos, which had done more to radicalize Islamic jihadists online than probably anything else.

It wasn’t just Alex Jones and Infowars that have been de-platformed, it’s also Milo, SABO, and others. And the attacks against conservative voices are not just on social media, they’re also on radio and television. It happened to Rush Limbaugh several years ago with the Sandra Fluke dustup, and there was an organized effort to pressure his advertisers to drop him. The same thing is happening now with a ruthless attack on Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham. The first scalp in this effort was Bill O’Reilly. Then, having taken a scalp, they tried to get Hannity, but failed. Now it’s Tucker and Laura, and it will continue. Where are the Berkeleyites who fought for free speech? I mean, now Liberals are not only against free speech, where they call words ‘violence’, but now they’re for removal of statues and murals too. When do the actual book burnings begin? Mao would be proud, Mario Savio, probably not so much. And where will it stop?

‘First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.’

It’s chilling to think of the implications of unelected companies, with the protection of carve-outs from the federal government (the shield of platform status vs. publisher status). Alex Jones is a wild card and pretty crazy, Milo is eccentric and often vulgar, SABO a rebellious street artist who pushes the envelope, but free speech is free speech, and protected by the Constitution, and it even extends to people you find cringe worthy and distasteful. It’s better, in fact, to let them speak openly, where they can be exposed and denounced if what they say is unacceptable, than to elevate them to some kind of ‘martyr’ status, which is invariably what happens when they’re suppressed. What you denounce is what people will want. It’s the law of nature, ask any parent.

So with the Summit, Trump gave voice to the one group of ‘activists’ and ‘influencers’ the media and the Left doesn’t want to have a voice – conservatives, a group that is racially and ethnically diverse. And the group the Left particularly would love to silence is black conservatives. Many of the most influential conservative voices out there are black, such as Candace Owens, which really bugs the Left! They get the most vile, racist things said to them with regularity, from both white and black liberals, with no sense of irony or self-reflection. From the white liberals who harass them and hurl racial epithets but who consider themselves anti-racist, to black liberals, like Ayanna Pressley recently, who continually reinforce the idea that in order to be ‘black enough’ you have to think a certain way. Trump gave them a voice when he had the Young Black Leadership Summit in the White House, and he gave them a voice with the Social Media Summit. Blexit is real and Democrats know it. It’s why they’re pushing reparations.

It’s ironic the era we’re living in too, because now conservatism is the new ‘counterculture’, and the Left is ‘the man’ that they’ve spent so long ‘resisting’. They are the new ‘stuffed shirts’ and ‘hall monitors’, always looking around to make sure everyone is in line, taking the ruler to hands that raise out of turn, or say the (politically) incorrect thing. Conservatives are the funny ones, and sarcastic, clever, and yes, bitchy. Go figure! It’s why Trump is so controversial, effective and fun! The Left have become the new ‘squares’ and speech police, so crippled by both their hate, their political correctness and their desire to maintain power that they can’t have fun. They know the thing he said about Russia finding Hillary’s emails was a joke, for instance, but they’re too filled with anger that he won to laugh.

I’m hoping that the information gathered by President Trump from both the Summit and the Hotline he set up to report Big Tech discrimination will result in a huge smackdown of these Big Tech companies and that they will feel enough pressure to stop censoring, suppressing, demonetizing and incorrectly ordering them in terms of search requests. And soon, especially before the election. He’s got a lot of power that can be brought to bear on them, but Congress needs to act as well, and I hesitate to assume the feckless Republicans will actually do anything substantial. The Democrats certainly won’t.

One thing is for certain, however: from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, to Chick-Fil-A, Dicks Sporting Goods and Nike, every time they diss America or come for conservatives and try to shut us down, we fight back, and the Patriot Battalion gets bigger, stronger and more diverse. And as Patriots United for the MAGA agenda, we’re WINNING for America! And that’s what the Left hates most of all!
