What America Needs is Conscious Contact With God

Updated: Sep 5, 2023

It should be easy for anyone with eyes to see that America is on the wrong track on multiple fronts, from education to culture to unity, or lack thereof; we’re heading down a dark and dangerous road. It’s also why it’s so important that we turn our hearts to God and ask for His Mercy, Grace, Guidance and Strength to save our country.

Despite the profound flaws of the Founders, this country was in fact founded on Judeo-Christian principles and while anti-theocratic in their philosophy, they did believe in God and proclaimed that a nation without God would not stand. John Adams said it: “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Thomas Jefferson said it; “And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever.” George Washington said it: “While we are zealously performing the duties of good citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of religion. To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian.”

There are many more quotes that can be attributed to the Founders about the issue of God, righteousness, morality, and virtue, but you get the point, which is that this country was based on a belief in Freedom and Liberty and that those gifts are inherent and bestowed by a Higher Being, not by some king, lord or dictator, and that however flawed the seeker, they ought to seek nonetheless to aspire to His likeness. How far we’ve fallen from those principles.

I can almost feel the eye rolls of the SJW left who’ll immediately pounce on the issue of slavery and Indian maltreatment, and as I’ve written about many, many times, I both understand that sentiment and acknowledge it’s truth. However, I also steadfastly proclaim that much as one shouldn’t ‘throw the baby out with the bathwater’; we don’t discount the virtues of the Founding Documents and Principles simply because their authors lacked perfection, any more than the legacy of MLK Jr. would be dismissed for his. But somehow with America, for Liberals, the Founders and the Constitution are on the dismissed exactly for that reason. Yet are these self-proclaimed ‘justice warriors’ really all that virtuous themselves?

It’s been said for a while that America needs a ‘revival’, in the manner of Billy Graham. I agree, and I wish he were here to lead it, and don’t know why his son Franklin hasn’t initiated one. In this era of immediate technology it would be very easy to do with the right motivation, leadership and organization. And it doesn’t have to be a ‘Christian’ revival, in my opinion it has to be a ‘Godly’ revival. Sure, the figure of Christ is a wonderful aspiration, but the revival I’m talking about is all-inclusive, non-‘religious’, non-denominational, open to all believers or non believers. Kind of like with the ‘You’re welcome if you love America’ foundation of the MAGA Movement, this revival would be ‘if you believe in God or a Higher Power of just plain Goodness, or a generic Spirit of the Universe and you love America’, you’re welcome.

We’re a hurting nation that’s devolving into an increasingly depraved culture, and we need to get back to a righteous intention or we may be lost forever.

We have Communists disguised as Socialists trying to change our entire economy into a Serfdom; deviant sexualization of children in schools and libraries with transvestites twerking while you’re forbidden to pray (unless perhaps to Allah); increasing sex with children via sex trafficking; execution of babies in the womb and beyond; and increasing disunity pushing us closer to a potential Civil War. And that’s just domestically and only a fraction of the problems we face. We only began as a Nation because of the undeserved Mercy of God, and though we don’t quite deserve it now any more than then, we’ll most definitely lose our country without it.

As I’ve written about before, I have both ADD and a fighting spirit and quick temper, so to be sure, I include myself first among the list of needing His Grace and to keep my focus on Him, and it’s my constant striving to do so, however falteringly. Just like when people say ‘helping others makes me feel happy’, indeed, seeking to be closer with my God makes me feel better and gives me direction and purpose. But I also lose my way and stumble, sometimes getting beaten back into submission by my own self-will, begging for His Strength again. I think America’s like that, and I don’t think we get out of this mess without Him. Complacency is the enemy of liberty and the subversives have gained so much ground, I almost wonder if it’s even possible at this stage to reverse course.

Thank God for such a bold, courageous leader as President Trump, who has that fighting spirit as well and understands the stakes. A flawed man himself, if it weren’t for his fearless proclamation of the name of God in America, I know he wouldn’t have won, much less been able to endure these 2 ½ years of being terrorized by the Left and Never Trumpers alike. But we the citizenry must do our part, for we’ve allowed it to get this way, and he’s only one man. Strong, implacable and relentless, but still only one man.

Despite how the ill-informed and intentionally deceptive insist that it says ‘separation of church and state’, somewhere in the Constitution, it does not, and though the Constitution specifically prohibits the establishment of a ‘national religion’, at no point does it prohibit religion itself. In fact, the 1st Amendment is quite clear on this if people would actually read it – “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”. This of course has come to be interpreted by the activist Left (and acquiesced to by the feckless Republicans) as directed only to Jews and Christians but somehow Muslims, and now Satanists, are exempt. Have a 10 Commandments monument on public property? Outrage and lawsuits – you must tear it down. Put up a giant statue of Baphomet at the Christmas holiday decorations at the park or close the street 5 times a day to pray to Allah? To the left, that’s just fine. No ACLU lawyers will be coming after you! See where I’m going with this?

If you love America and believe in God, however you understand Him, pray – pray like your country and your life depends on it, because it does, and get active – for God helps those who help themselves.

The Devil and his minions are marching strong, and are knocking at the gate, like termites devouring the foundation of this Nation. God gave us a reprieve in 2016, and I believe 2020 will be our last chance to stop the Leftward trajectory of this amazing experiment in liberty we call America and slowly but steadily right the ship. And indeed the storms are coming, for as bad as it’s been, what we’ve seen so far will be mere firecrackers compared to the artillery they’ll try to use until the election. So Patriots, let’s shield ourselves with the Armor of God, humble ourselves before Him, strengthen our spines for the fight to come, and fight to earn His Mercy upon our land. And may God Bless America with victory!
